Hoopstick.com Thread Closed? Any Reason?

Just curious as to why this thread was closed in the regular hot deals section (as I'm sure a lot of us that jumped on the deal are wondering).

Anything for us to worry about?
 
Haha... didn't think I was the only one pondering this... hopefully a mod will answer as to why the thread was locked and closed?
 
I was PM'd by a mod and told that the thread was closed for "site pimping"

??????

LOL thread pimping? Would anyone care to inform me what that is? A quick google search of the term returned nothing meaningful :-P
 
my bad.... typing while still flustered from the mod's PM...

Wouldn't site pimping only apply if the site was MINE?
Or, I guess it applies cause I know a dude, who knows the dude, who started the site?

Might have to do with the many posts you made in the thread to defend the site? Posting it then leaving opinions and whatnot seems to be okay, but I think in every page there were some post from you, the last I read being "I tested his code out by trying to make another purchase.. blah blah blah". I'd have to say that seems like site pimpin'.
 
either way, its rediculous to close the thread over it - shoot him a PM and tell him to stop. Don't close a thread that dozens of us were watching and getting info from. Come on.

If you have a problem with how we run our forums, we can agree that you will never use them again. Got it?
 
their discussion section is closed and deleted too i think. there were a couple of topics but now there are none.
 
Not to beat a dead horse, but the site is back up, I was able to logon, and my order says pending shipment.. looks promising enuff.

its been 4 days now and it still says pending shipment for me. anything to start getting worried about?

Well most companies don't ship over the weekend... If it's not shipped by the end of this week, I'd probably start worrying.
 
Yeah, mine says pending shipment also... but then again, my cc didn't get charged until just yesterday either.

I'm trying to remember, how long does Woot take to process orders and ship?
Although, it's really only been 2 business days.

<EDIT> My concern isn't whether or not we'll get it, or even how soon. My concern is how long the used drive will function before it starts to crap out. To quote a friend's suggestion to me, "make sure you buy two of 'em and use one to RAID the other". LOL
 
Woot usually takes longer than this, and they've been around doing it for a while. This is a first time try, and they were flooded with orders. I'd give 'em a break and wait until at least saturday to make any noise.
 
hoopstick was and is a legit company from all that I've heard. No need to worry.
 
For all the nay-sayers I just received my order shipped message for all of the drives I ordered.
 
Same... Just received an e-mail stating my order has shipped. FedEx ground tracking # provided.
 
No shiping email here, but I'm not worried. Yet.

EDIT: well, damn...21 minutes later I got the shipping email.
 
Same here, Fedex tracking # that shows Picked Up at 4:xx today, looks like its panning out :)

Come to think of it... I'm still waiting on my last Woot purchase :mad:

Purchased on 9/02
Shipped on 9/07

10 days later and still no product... wtf...

Haha, I feel confident I will get a nice new hoopstick sticker, my only concern is the condition of the drive (not a hugh risk at $6 :) and would be great if they had any remaining warranty). What is a good way to test the integrity of the drives?

Btw, did anyone notice the days after the HD sale, they had a waterproof helmet cam and then a pair of cans. I do not doubt they are legit and were just having a few kinks to work out on opening day.
 
Got my drive this morning. I couldn't be sure, but it looks factory refurbished. Case is a little beaten up, but the sticker looks to be new. Nice!
