Horrible Hardware problem?

Well, this started as a game specific problem, or so I thought, but now it seems to belong more in the hardware section

Any help would be truely apprecated. Could this be that the dvd drive isn't getting the juice it needs? I think I may have it stacked with a few fans.

I looked through the event log and got the following errors on the HDD during Chkdsk

VSS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED_CALLING_ROUTINE

Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine CoCreateInstance. hr = 0x80040206.
