how can I make my laptop's cpu fan quieter?

The CPU fan in my Gateway Solo 5300 has gotten really loud over the past few weeks, can I just oil it or something? New ones are like $70 which I can't afford right now. This is what it looks like..

It has 3 little holes in the top of the center of the fan. Can I squirt some oil in there?

Can you open up that metal piece? If you can it should be easy enough to change some papst in their. If not, I don't see any easy way out.

The bearings are toast.

If it is a bearingless fan, then the bushings (fancy term for bearings) are shot.

Get a new one, or cook said laptop. 70 bonez is cheap compared to spending a G or so on a new brick.
