I have an Asus P5b-e and 2x1gb of gskill ram
I put the ram in the slots next to each other and at first the computer wouldnt boot
So i took each stick and tested them individually and they booted fine
then i put them back in and swapped their locations and now it boots fine

When I ran memtest86 3.2 it doesnt list my chipset and doesnt tell me if im running dual channel
how can i tell if im running dual channel?

Thanks

Very simple.....take 1 stick and put in slot 1 close to the cpu then take stick 2 and put in slot 3.

as long as u followed the dual channel directions via the mobo's instructino manual, it should be in dual channel. HOwever, you're probably not going to notice any difference b/w running in dual channel and single... the benefits are quite slim if i recall.

slim but beneficial. it doesn't take a lot to put them in corresponding slots. Usually motherboards will color code them these days so you just put color with color.
