How much is too much voltage...........

Hey, i wanted to post a question, i recently bought a Asus A8R-MVP deluxe. I used to have a DFI Ultra-D with 2X512 OCZ EL Platinum Rev.2. Now with my Ultra-D, i had my memory at 510 1:1 at 2.8 volts. I get my new board, the asus A8R, and its not stable at 255(510). So i losened the timmings, but when i would play games id get blue screens. So i finaly upped the voltage to 2.95 and put my memory at 510 1:1 with the timmings of 2.5-3-4-8.. All is good, but i think 2.95 is a tad high no? And the second i lower the voltage i get blue screens. For reference i have a FX-55 at 2.8. Wanna know what you all think. 2.95, too high?
