I bought a cold cathode kit long ago which came with molex connector that connects to a wall outlet. For some odd reason though, this power cable won't power my fan. The LED indicates on, but the fan doesn't spin.

I created a ghetto notebook cooler out of a video card box, but I need means to power the fan. It could be either a 9v battery or perhaps USB power? I'm afraid the drain on the USB might kill my notebook though.

I took an old cell phone charger and cut off the end, then split the wires and shoved them into the connector. It worked.

The grounding pin the fan uses is not connected on most brick molex power supplies... so the easy solution is just take the fan's molex connector and switch 2 ground pins... MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHICH 2 ARE THE GROUND PINS!!! (you should be switching the 2 middle pins)

switched the molex pins with a small flat head screwdriver and now it works just fine! will post pics in a little bit.
