How to run m6805 at 800mhz while pluged in ?

I know I might sound like a stupid question, but I do a lot of downloads over night and the fan pops on every once in a while and it drive me nuts, anyway of running the system on the lowest possible mhz, since all the system is doing is running shareaza ?
 
uh. how can a laptop fan drive you nuts?

use a program called speedswitchxp, just google it and you will find it and like it.
 
hehe yeah i used sleep with a volcano 12 and4 case fans running 24 hrs a day. now that i have my lappy, i have pretty much stopped using my desktop, so i am leaving it off more and more.
 
yeah i wish my sound machine which i bought for £30 to help me sleep came with the noise from a fan. it'd be cheaper than leaving my system on :)
