How to tell what brand memory my Video card has?

Just wondering what brand my memory is on my 8800GTS 512MB G92 BFG card, i heard samsung is good.

Do i have to take off the stock fan to see?

Yes, you need to look at the memory chips themselves to see manufacturer, part number etc.
 
Removing the heatsink is required, but not too difficult. Nothing to worry about.
 
Anyone know what ram the 9800GX2 is using? I sure hope it is Samsung and not that quimodo crap or however you spell it.
