I've got 2 RAID volumes on one array setup like this:

3 x 1TB HD103UJ
volume00 = 100GB RAID0
volume01 ~ 2TB RAID5

now, let's say a drive fails & I replace it. What happens? everything back to as it was, or is it complicated by having two volumes with different RAID levels?

I take it you are using Matrix Raid?

But for sure the data on the Raid 0 volume is gone for good if any of the drives fail. The data on the RAID 5 volume should still be there.

ok, that makes sense. losing the RAID0 is fine for this, but I was hoping the RAID5 could be rebuilt. thanks for the quick reply!

oh, it's matrix per se, but not Intel's Matrix Raid... it's on a PCIe controller.
