I need a new system, for casual semi-hardcore gaming. My old system specs are:

amd athlon 3000+
1 gig of 3200
9600xt
ausus a7n8x

I dont plan to OC at all, I plan to keep everything at stock settings with stock cooling. My budget for the 4 main components is $1,000 ish maybe a few extra bucks. I don't want to upgrade for a year or two if possible. and maybe just maybe I'll throw in a tv tunner.

here is what i was thinking:

eVGA Geforce 7800GT

Shuttle ST20G5 AMD Socket 939 Barebone

CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB)

AMD Athlon 64 4000+

I wanted to try and go with a shuttle, but i'm not fully sold on it yet. I think I just rather pick up a new motherboard and throw it all in my old case.

so what do you guys think of this specs? can I do better with different components? I'm open to chaning one or all components to get more bang for the buck. basacally I just want the best performace I can get for $1,000ish.

thanks for the help.

Get a 3700 if you really need that 1mb Cache... it's not worth the extra money.

That way you can get 2gb RAM instead..
