If anyone wants to do this the easy way I have an Oracle VM appliance with Debian Wheezy that I can share.

That's interesting... running it inside of a VM is not going to have the same performance as bare metal, but then again, that's using Linux/netatalk vs BSD.

There's also Pi Capsule, which is a neat little project in itself.

Wish Apple would make running AirPlay/Time Machine possible without their hardware! I'm lucky enough to have an Airport Extreme, but there's no reason for the software to be so restricted.

microsoft windows is the culprit that refuses to communicate with NFS+ not the other way around
