Hey guys,

I was given an hp laptop, DV7 something or other.

It's exhibiting a double flash on caps lock and numlock when turned on. Screen stays black.

According to the error page I found on HP's website, that means the bios is corrupted.

I talked to HP and since it's 6 months out of warranty, they want 300 dollars to fix it.

Anyone know a method to correct this on my own? I can get more detailed specs if necessary, computer is at work at the moment.

Thanks in advance

Thanks Matt but that didn't work either.... I have to assume this is a hardware problem given that none of the software fixes I've tried have worked.

Thanks anyway guys

You could try taking it to someone who could manually flash the chip, if you can remove the motherboard yourself it should not be too expensive.

Any idea who might be able to do that meaker?

I live in kind of a small town, so we don't have a lot of pc shops around.

You might have to ship it out, I live in the UK at the moment so my local experience wont help.
