Hey all:

I have an HP Pavillion notebook which is aggravating me in a really bad way. It is acting like the shift key is constantly pressed down. All the secondary characters input instead of numbers, click on one icon and all the icons starting with the same letter are selected, etc.

Is there a function key that enables this mode? I can't think of a windows setting. I am leaning on it being related to a keyboard malfunction.

Any thoughts?

If it is not a keyboard malfunction, it's probably related to the Windows Accessibility Options (found at the top of the Control Panels list). Sometimes one of the features can be activated by holding down a hotkey for too long; the annoying thing is that SHIFT and CONTROL are two of the triggers. Go in there and turn off everything in the Keyboard tab, see if that helps.

Hi:

I have already tried that -- no luck =(

I can't figure out what is causing this. I don't see a secondary or function key that would cause this type behavior. The notebook is not useable at this point --- this sucks!
