hello

I have been using my DELL 3007WFP for years now and I am very happy with it. except in fast games the motion is not fast enough.

any way I have big desk right now and I am looking to put a new computer and a new monitor. my main usage is to follow financial markets and chart analysis and surfing the internet. but I do some gaming if I have time.

so what is better than 3007 in the market now ? it will be better if its larger than 30" and I wouldn't mind if its more than 2560X1600 :D

budget around 2000 to 4000$

thank you ...

Dell U3014 is the current flagship of Dell monitors. Dell U3014 Review
It is generally better than 3007, has lighter AG coating, fast responce times etc.

But if you have good old :D 30" monitor and
budget around 2000 to 4000$
you better should wait and buy some 4K 40-45" monitors with comfortable pixel pitch and improved panel technologies.
I think they will be available in ~1-1.5 year, so you don't need to spend money for such minor changes that you get when you change one 30" monitor to another.

Current 4K monitor like ASUS PQ321Q/Sharp PN-K321 are not so good to buy them.

I was thinking about going PLP with my U3011, but I rather wait for 4K @ 60Hz when they become available.
With your budget, go 4K.

If I were you, I'd consider one of the 29" ultra wide panels. I have one and its exceptionally good both for gaming and for charting type applications due to its sheer horizontal width.

I agree with John. I would wait a year for more 4K panels to come out. Just don't see the point in moving to another 1600p monitor when 4K is right around the corner.

I guess you could go with the Asus PQ321Q, but it isn't great for gaming, from what I've heard anyway.

I've got a 3008WFP and considered upgrading to the 3014. After thinking it over, however, I decided to get one of the 27" 2560x1440 monitors. I chose the Viewsonic VP2770. It's a beautiful monitor, great for games, HDTV and movies. At $710, it was a helluva lot cheaper than a new 30".

There just isn't enough improvement in the latest 30" monitors over older models, like yours and mine, IMO. I'm using my 3008 for work-related stuff and the VP2770 for fun. I'll wait and see what the 4K monitors have to offer before making any more decisions.

Dell 3011/3008=3007 with extra inputs, higher input lag and color controls. The 3011 has slightly better colors vs. the 3008 but is still easily beaten by sub 200$ IPS panels.

Dell 3014=1,000$+ Joke due to the very obvious ghosting issues which its predecessors did not have and high input lag unless the game mode is used, but it has mediocre, locked colors and it has flickering line issues. On a positive note the 3014 does have good black levels and a grain free matte coating unlike all of the matte CCFL back-lit 30" monitors.

All matte 30" CCFL back-lit panels use the same grainy coating. This image shows the affect of different coatings on pixels, notice how distorted the 3020MDP pixels look compared to the U2713H/HM, PB278Q and VP2770. The Dell 3014 has the same coating as the U2713H.

30" monitors have become jokes of the display industry since they are so expensive vs. far superior 27" models and that there are plenty of budget IPS panels with better performance.

Get a ViewSonic VP2770 or overclockable (96hz+) Qnix/X-Star 27" 2560x1440 monitor

If screen real estate is an issue 2x2560x1440>>>>1x2560x1600 and one can often buy 2x1440p monitors for the price of 1 worse performing 30."

At least check out the 29" ultra wide panels... they can't be beat for viewing area IMO.
