I do alot of polishing at work, brass mainly. Anyway I lapped the copper base of my Volcano 7.
As stock it was weird, tons of fine rings around it from when it was originally machined. I started with 300 grit to get rid of a few scratches I made getting the thermal pad off, then 500, 600, 1000, 1200 and finished off with quite a bit of Brasso.
I lost a good 5/6 Degrees!!!
Oh yeah and if I replace it I have a coppery coloured mirror
