Ah don't bring down his hopes man ;)

Good job on the purchase!

To someone using a GF2 or a GF4MX, a 9600np would be a major improvement. Congrats on the purchase and hope you enjoy it.

What was your previous card?

Enjoy, overclocked the 9600 is a very capable card even now, Farcry will probably need to be ran at 800x600 and doom3 640x480 but still playable and still looking good

Actually, I used to have a 9600XT, I guess you could overclock to something close to those specs, and I could run far cry on "High" settings, except for shadows which were at medium. And to the guy that said that a 9800XT lagged at 1152X864, I could run my old 9800Pro @ XT at 1024X768, "very high" settings, water "ultra high", and 2X AA - 8X AF with an average of ~50Fps, but I did dip down into the low thirties occasionally.

Nice purchase on a budget man, throw up some bench numbers if ya get a chance, i'd like to know how it performs. What kind of system do you have running?

while not the fastest card out there, it can still hold its own, i own one and it can overclock to 9600XT speeds

Had a 9600 np myself as an upgrade to a 9000.. quite the upgrade I must say. Ut2k3 never played so smooth.

I think the 9600 series is one of the most underhyped ones this day. All of them still play todays games but heaven forbid you have one. People have to have a 6800 ultra and x850pt to play games. Mom my 9600xt is only giving my 50-80 frames! I need 200 if I want to get into that CAL-Pro I've been working at. Sheesh Counter Strike noobs...

But in all seriousness people play HL2 with ti4000 and a ti4200 plays it pretty well. I don't see why people don't recommend 9600's mroe often. Good stable card and decent frame rate. In CS:S I get on a server with like 60 people no liek then 35 but ona smaller map liek dust or less shooting all at once I get upwards 60-85

good choice, my 9600pro was probaly one of my favorite cards. When i bought it i was upgrading from a gforce2 and it was worth it.

Indeed. I do believe for a while that the GF4MX was the most populous card according to Steam polls

I have a 9600np 128mb overclocked 470/250. I would like to upgrdae but have a hard time justifying it when this card does a good job for the games I play.

Sigh my 9200 was a beauty!
I agree the Geforce 4 cards and the 9600s and 9700s are some of the best (longest lasting) cards Ive seen to date.
