I was about to buy a IP35PRO but besides firewire is it any more stable / overclocking friendly than the others? (e/normal/v)

It's got a very slighty richer BIOS & it's got other nice little touches like the onboard power & reset switches, external clearCMOS & uGuru.
If you don't need the 2nd physical x16 (electrical x4) PCI-E slot or the 2nd Gb LAN then imo the standard IP35 (which does have firewire) is better value.
Of course that's life - the higher up you go the less value things represent even though we may still want them.
