Im stumped on this one, I cant seem to get this cpu to run much higher than 2.5ghz. I've tried lowering the htt multiple ,loosening timings, adding more voltage ect. Im thinking it may be this cheap board i've got( do am2 mother boards have fsb limits like intel boards or do they not considering you can just drop the multiple?) or maybe its the chip(im currently running at 10x250 = 2500. Ive read eclipse's oc guide and tried nearly everything on there. could someone help me out please?

Thanks:D

Honestly every board is different. I had an Asus a8n32 sli deluxe that many people said couldn't do 300 htt. I got mine to 370+ before it crashed. And that very well could have been because ht was at 3x

What type is it? If youve got a C0 Craphammer (mine) it will barely go anywhere. Mine topped out at 2.15. I can take it to 2.20 but its not stable.

EDIT: Nevermind, just saw you are using DDR2 so it couldnt be a C0 Claw, im guessing Venice?

Here's a quick checklist:
- Your HT Multi should be 3x or lower since your going over 250MHz FSB.
- Make sure it's not overheating, it shouldn't go beyond 55c at full load ever! Use CoreTemp to check this.
- Make sure your RAM is stable, you may have to run it on a divider to go higher. Use MemTest to check this.

Thanks, temp never goes over 52c as measured by coretemp after 8 hours of prime 95 then I stopped prime becuase I thought thats long enough(when am I actualy gonna have it using 100% for longer than that anyway?) and the ram hasnt even reached advertised speed because I set it at 533 instead of 667 for extra headroom.

Eclipse, The lowest voltage I can use is 1.375 I think (havent tried lower)

Thanks for help, I'll have a play around in the bios now.;)
