The symptoms

First the video car blew, fan died and a couple caps blew, still booted, ran like shit.
Replaced the card, still boots slow and windows continuously crashes. I can't even install windows 7. it gets to the splash screen of the install and freezes.
Installed a e6400 spare, no difference.
Windows mem test reports a hardware error. It posts just fine.
I don't have a spare MB no do I want to spend money on it.

I'm never buying another asus board, had 2 take a crap after a year.

How did the video card blow? If it was a power surge or something then you probably fried/damaged more than just the card, which would vaguely explain the problems you're having.

Thermaltake 400 something watt
and a radeon 4550

old card was a geforce 6 something pci-x

I'll try a new psu tomorrow.
