I'm doing research into the board deaths and I need your guys help big time. If you could tell me this info it would be great:

Board working: Yes/No
Ram Company:
Ram Model #:
Ram PCB: Brainpower or JEDEC Standard
Ram IC's: Micron D9, Elpida, Etc (Check the RAM list to see, or if you know for SURE)
Ram Stock Voltage:
Ram Voltage as you use it 24/7:
Ram Voltage MAX you've used EVER:

Please guys, I have an idea of what's going on, but I need to confirm it, thanks.

Board working: Yes
Ram Company: Teamgroup
Ram Model #: PC6400 4-4-4-10
Ram PCB: Brainpower
Ram IC's: Micron D9
Ram Stock Voltage: 1.8-2.0
Ram Voltage as you use it 24/7: 2.0
Ram Voltage MAX you've used EVER: 2.0

Board working:
Ram Company: GEIL
Ram Model #: GX22GB6400UDCA=
Ram PCB:
Ram IC's:
Ram Stock Voltage: 1.9V - 2.4V
Ram Voltage as you use it 24/7:
Ram Voltage MAX you've used EVER:

ill tell you tuesday when my ram comes in :)

how can i check all this info? besides whats on the package ;)

Board working: Yes
Ram Company: Corsair
Ram Model #: TWIN2X2048-6400C4
Ram PCB: no idea
Ram IC's: not sure which revision i got but i got it last weekend, either Infineon C or Elpida H according to ramlist for rev 4.x and 5.1
Ram Stock Voltage: 2.1v
Ram Voltage as you use it 24/7: 2.1v
Ram Voltage MAX you've used EVER: 2.1v

Does anyone have a link to that ram list? I'm sure a few people would need to use it in order to find their IC's....

i think mine just died... turned it off, then turned it on and wont post. dissconnected all the drives then tried again still a nogo.... it turns on but no post.

Try using just one stick of ram in slots 3 or 4, dont use slots 1 or 2. If one stick works, try both sticks in slots 3 and 4.

tried what u said before u posted it and nothing worked. i took it to frys and it posted for them telling me to come back tomorrow with my cpu and memory to see what was wrong. got home and tried again now its back to normal... i dont know whats going on.

Board working: Yes
Ram Company: Patriot
Ram Model #: PDC22G6400LLK (2)
Ram PCB: ?
Ram IC's: Elpida
Ram Stock Voltage: 1.8
Ram Voltage as you use it 24/7: 2.0
Ram Voltage MAX you've used EVER: 2.1

Board working: Yes
Ram Company: Kingston
Ram Model #: KVR667D2/1GR, cheapie ValueRAM line
Ram PCB: I see no alphanumeric strings beginning with 'B' anywhere on the PCB--I assume that means it's JEDEC reference? Seems like most people find Kingston doesn't use Brainpower PCBs anyway...
Ram IC's: Again, not much luck IDing the ICs. Marked as Kingston, "D6408TEBGGL3R," pretty squarish. Don't seem to boot above [email protected], playing around with higher clocks at higher VDIMMs now.
Ram Stock Voltage: 1.8V
Ram Voltage as you use it 24/7: 1.8V
Ram Voltage MAX you've used EVER: With the memclock lock I've never tried to push it above 667MHz, so I don't think I've ever bumped the VDIMM. EDIT: Ok, trying higher VDIMMs to see what it can do.

EDIT 2: Needs 1.9v VDIMM to POST and pass Memtest+ at 800 and 5-5-5-15-24; needs 2.1v for 4-4-4-10-20. Needs 2.4v to POST at 1000 5-5-5-15-24, but won't pass Memtest+ even at 2.5v. Downside of absolute memclocks instead of dividers is that I can only run at a menu-provided clock or 1:1 (which is only 667 with my wimpy E4300), and nothing in between.
Guess I'll try running at 2.1v for a bit, see if that kills my board.

ps, i love this board!!!

Ram IC's: This line is not on the ramlist.. shrug?
Ram Stock Voltage: 2.0
Ram Voltage as you use it 24/7: 2.0
Ram Voltage MAX you've used EVER: 2.0

Here you go. Not sure on the chips on the sticks. I just bought it because it was cheap. :D

NOt necessarily, I'm just trying to figure out what the problem is with the boards that are having problems.

D, unless they are all using the same ICs, it looks pretty much all over the map! Could still be problems with the RAM slots or the voltage at startup, however. Maybe it's only giving 1.7? *shrug*

Mine had some serious issues posting the first time. I unplugged the RAM half a dozen times and cleared the CMOS several times. Finally had it working with one stick in either the 1 or 2 slot and clearing it for a few seconds with the power disconnected. I was using the RAM in sig. compwarez has that board now though and he didn't have any issues.

hmmm... from the looks of the component list, you're all hoping it was ram that was to blame?

Board working: #1: Bios Boot Screen for 3 secs, #2 DOA, #3 DOA

I also tried different hardware configurations on the board. And yes I tried every slot configuration possible every time. I was so sure that I was missing something I actually made a spreadsheet. How sad is that?

1) this should be a sticky, especially since new people have fried their boards this week and may not have seen this.

2) has anything come of this? inquiring minds want to know!!!

carry on!
