In HL2 did you find yourself running from enemies instead of fighting them? Especially in the first few levels after you get a weapon?
Personally even after I got the pistol I would only shoot at the ones in front of me and would run from anyone behind me. I did it without thinking even though I could easily have shot these guys.
I don't have any idea why I was RUNNING AWAY in a First person shooter when I had a perfectly good gun. It just felt like that was they way I should do things to so I did it. The only time I killed people behind me early on was when some appeared in front and behind at the same time and I had no choice but to clear the group behind me before advancing on the ones in front.
I think it's all about emersion. The world feels so real that even after you have a gun your still in "run away" mode and you just can't stop doing it.
Anyway, HL2 is lots of fun so far, and I can't wait to see what will happen next!
