Incompatible RAM?

A friend of mine has 2 sticks of 512 one is Roseline, and the other is generic. Both of them work when installed individually. But when they are both in together it only reads 512, in POST and in Windows. Tried rearranging them, still. They're both PC133 SDRAM.
 
I'm gonna bet that one stick is dual sided and the other is single sided, and while they are ok apart that difference is the problem when they are put together.
