incorrect cpu speed in memtest, but correct in bios..?

Just noticed when running a new e8500 on a spare system I am building that memtest reports it as 3GHZ (3000mhz), when BIOS reports it as 3.16GHZ. The correct speed.

Is this just a glitch in memtest? I am not worried, just curious.

I have the latest BIOS from 12/10/2008 and its a Intel DP35DPM motherboard.


Any similar encounters or ideas on why?
