Information On the Samsung 215TW and Pics

It is incorrect to say the 215TW does not support 720p through the component inputs.

I purchased one 12 days ago from Best Buy and since I was concerned about this report and wanted to know if I should hustle to return it within my 14 day period, I hooked my 360 up to the monitor just now.

Initially it was 480i stretched to fit the screen, since I still had my selector on SDTV, but when I moved it to HDTV the Xbox rebooted and came up in 480p. At that point I went into my dashboard and selected 720p as the resolution I wanted to use, since we all know the 215TW cannot support 1080i natively. Indeed my Xbox set the resolution to 720p and i checked the menu of the Samsung to verify this and it reported that the resolution it was receiving was 1280x720 @ 75Hz.

However bear in mind that since this monitor has no support for hardware centering of the display, it does indeed stretch it out a bit to fill the screen to it's native size.

Hope this clears that up. I am very satisfied with mine.

yeah even though it does stretch the aspect ratios are very close so the stretch effect isnt as bad as say using 1280x1024.

isn't 1280x768 a 16:10 ratio? That could be used with the VGA cables for the 360.

but the 360 cant output 1280x768. It can only output 1280x720 or 720p, 1080i and the 480p.

If you are using the VGA cable, one of the resolution choices is 1280x768. So, is that a 16:10 ratio?

Hi, does the Samsung 215TW support 720p and 1080i through its component input? Thanks in advance.
