I have a Dell Inspiron 7000 thats about 5 years old. It has a 10gb HD, 400 ghz pent II processor, DVD drive, etc. It currently has 128 megs of PC 100 144 pin. I am running windows 2000. It take about 3 min to boot up and up to 30 sec to open ie or mozilla. I would like to upgrade it to 384 megs of mem. I know this will speed it up but im wondering how much it really will help speed up the machine with the small amount of system resources avail. I have it running pretty stripped down right now. Let me know what you think about the mem upgrade!

Thanks!

Additional memory should speed it up a noticable amount. I ran Windows 2000 on a old Pentium 166, and with 64 MB RAM it was slow, but adding an additional 256 perked it right up. 2K and XP really prefer 256+ MB.

well i just ordered a stick of 128 last night which will take me up to 256.... i might get another 128 if i deam it necesary.... i did have xp on this machine a while back but it ran like shit
