I'm trying to install VMware View Client (64 bit), on Windows 7 Pro SP1.

I start the install executable and the install splash screen loading image pops up for less than a second, then disappears. I never make it to the window to start the installation.
I've tried an earlier revision of the install, 32bit versions, with and without Local Mode installers, they all act the same. UAC, Admin rights, anti-virus enabled / disabled, all the same.

Any hints on where to look to troubleshoot this, or any ideas to try?

Do you happen to have VMware workstation installed on this PC? There should be a client installation log file at %TEMP%\vminst.log_date_timestamp.

Version 4.6.

Finally found the issue. "FixCamera.exe" was running, and apparently that stops all VMware software from working, including installation software. Strange.

Disabled fixcamera and install went right on through.

Yeah, its a strange strange executable. Placed in the C:\Windows\ directory.

More than likely this one is part of the webcam installed, it's ancient and from asia, but it works well enough for the lady. The file is easy enough to delete, and does not re-appear which is promising.

It's Copyright is from 2005. Last modified 7/11/2007
Ver 1.0.1.1
both product name and file description "CameraFixer MFC Application"

Strange.

Glad it was that easy of a fix, too bad it took so long to get there!
