I just picked up a laptop with the Intel T2310 in it. It works well for what I am using it for but... I noticed that the processor wasn't hard wired into my board. Are there any other processors from the same family that would maybe be potential upgrades for it?

You should be able to upgrade to a Yonah-based Core Duo with a 533MHz FSB. You MIGHT be able to upgrade to ones with the 667MHz bus or even Core 2 Duo, but that is a big if. You should also get the sSpec number from the chip and look it up on Intel's website so you know which socket you need. However, I think all of the newer mobile chips use the same one. Anyway, here is a list your laptop should be able to take (as long as they are the right socket):

Pentium Dual Core
  • T2060, 1.60GHz
  • T2330, 1.60GHz
  • T2080, 1.73GHz
  • T2130, 1.86GHz

Core Duo
  • T2450, 2.0GHz
  • T2350, 1.86GHz
  • T2250, 1.73GHz
  • T2050, 1.60GHz

The T2310 is a Socket P(Santa Rosa) Merom based core, so the Yonah "upgrades" are out. You might be limited to the 533MHz chips, depends on the chipset. There are a few options then; T2330, T2370, T5270, T5470. Those are the only low bus speed Socket P chips I'm aware of right now.

If it has 800MHz capability and BIOS support, there are a lot of options including possible Penryn support.

Depends on your motherboard if you have a 965 chipset like mine I swapped mine out to a
T5450 no problem.it is weird but now that I have the T5450 my battery life is way better but performance is similiar to the T2310 except HD is way better now
