Update: ZipZoomFly has the reduced prices now posted on their web site. I suspect that newegg and other will follow...

Damn, it looks as if ZipZoomFly only has the 3.4C for $299, anyone know where I can get ahold of a 3.4E for around that price? If so I am ordering today, so I can have it by my next day off.

Zipzoomfly.com lowered the price of the 3.4GHz 800FSB Northwood chip yesterday to $299, and today they raised it back up to $380!!! Fricken bastards!! WTF?

ha, that was quick, I was debating the 3.4, looks like people came in and swooped em up. No stock and no fn' price cut anymore.

Damn... I just got a 2.8c for $180 from newegg and could have gotten a 3.2c for $218? lol... oh well, looks like I got the last of the good overclocking cpu's, unless it doesn't oc in which I'll be sending it back.

LoL
Good luck sending it back with that reason!! I don't think CPU's are guaranteed to be overclockable by any online store.

Besides, it doesn't really depend on the CPU that much. It's all about cooling, memory and motherbpard/chipset type when it comes to overclocking the 2.4C and up. So I wouldn't sent it right back if you can't get past 3.0GHz.

And I bet that $299 price was a typo on the website, and all those people who ordered it for that price have to pay the full $380 anyways. Kinda sucks that they don't sell the 3.4's for a suggested Intel retail price. Bastards...

I bought a 3.06Ghz 533Mhz a few weeks ago at $233. But a 12 yo BoyScout is lost in the woods & may be dead so I'm not complaining about anything.

After searching all day trying to find an online reseller that sells this illusive CPU I am starting to really wonder if the 3.4E 800 1MB 478 $417 $278 has even been released. Everytime I find a link for one it ends up be the 775 socket. Am I searching for something that isnt even available for purchase?

why dont they ever lower the prices on the EE's. they lowered them all except the EE's

There's no point to lowering EE prices. Every EE sold is one less core available to be sold as a much more expensive Xeon.
