the basic guidelines:
i'm not looking for a desktop replacement.
i'm not looking to game on it. (maaaybe the occasional WoW.)
i plan on mostly using it for class/work/general usage.
i'd LIKE a big-ish screen. i like big widescreens.

now my (ideal) price range. $600-800. maybe lower.

anything i should make sure to look out for? never shopped for a laptop. any brands that are particularly good? i was thinking dell.

anywho, suggestions?

Hey mate were in the same boat! i'm looking for a similar priced laptop. Well from what I seen you might want to check out toshiba or dell. I honestly think offers the most bang for the buck. I have configured the laptop I want more than 50 times already, so far this is what i have.

TOTAL IS 649$ with shipping and tax.

This same config with a 17" screen is 799$. You also might want to check dell outlet, they may have an inspiron with the same config 17" inch refurb for 600 to 700 bucks.

I seen toshiba satellites with a 1.8 ghz turion 2x 512kb cache with integrated graphics 120gb hd for 600 also.
