ipod + dell inspiron 8200 + docking station

I've got a 4th generation Ipod and I want to use it on my Dell Inspiron 8200. Here comes the frustrating part. It works fine when the laptop isn't docked in the port replicator.

My digital camera works fine through the port replicator, so i know the ports aren't bad.

I turned off the power management for all usb devices. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, turns out my portable hard drive doesn't work either via the docking station. This is really driving me crazy. The portable harddrive is powered with an external power supply.

Could a mod move this to mobile computing ? Thanks.
