Is it me, or are drives going up in price?

Lately I've been looking into getting 5 more Seagate 200gb PATA drives and adding them to my current 3 in a nice little 8 disk RAID5 array using a 3ware Escalade 7500-8... but I remember getting each of the first 3 at $100 or so, and now prices have risen up to $120? And it seems like that for most hard drives out there today... on NewEgg at least. What gives for the rising prices?

I thought that the prices were going down.. New drives are coming out and the old ones need to be sold off. I got my 400gb dive for only 230.

My understanding is similar to serbiaNem Usually the trend is for technology to improve and the price of the older stuff to decrease. As HD capacities increase and larger drives become available logic would dictate that the price of older smaller drives should decrease. It is possible you got your orinigal drives on sale or with some discount.
