I'm have no idea about laptop CPU sockets. I assume it's identical socket and it's as simple as take out T3400 and replace with T7500 am I correct on this? The laptop I'm going to do this is my wife's cheap toshiba laptop that I got for her like 3 months ago and I might inherit T7500. Will there be noticeable difference when transcoding DVD? Speed seems almost identical(.04GHz difference I think) and T7500 has 4MB cache instead of 1MB(I think) on T3400.

A very quick google shows that they both use the Micro-FCPGA packaging. So you should be good to go, providing the motherboard has support for the T7500.

And for one all mobile cpus use the micro fcpga packaging. And as of most toshibas you need to keep the fsb the same. T3400 uses 667fsb T7300 uses 800fsb so very doubtful it will work, but at the same time you need to up the ram in the toshiba to 800 to get the 800fsb. As by all I have worked on they need the matching ram mhz or the cpu will default to the lower fsb. And some people are just not as hard as they seem.

You need to find out what chipset you have and then it will be easy to tell which cpu's you can run.

I upgraded my Dell Vosto 1500 from T5270 1.4GHz to T9300 2.5Ghz.

Both run on the 800mhz FSB so the motherboard supported the CPU even though dell never offered that cpu series in the Vostro 1500 line.
