Is there a single pci-e video card that can power most games on a 30" PC monitor yet?

I was thinking about buying a Dell 30" (or westy 37") monitor sometime in the near future but I want to play some newer games on my next(Big) monitor that I buy. What newer video cards run games smoothly at 2560 x 1600 ? Any? Is a 4870 X2 my only option?

I only have on pci-e slot on my MB so a single slot solution is my only option.

Any high end card today will play games at 2560x1600 but it depends on how much eye candy you want to play with.

Yes, the HD 4870X2 is the fastest single slot solution.

If you want to save a few bucks but still have fast performance you might want to consider the 9800GX2. You can snag one up for around $350 using rebates.

Don't forget to look at the new GTX260 with the 216 shader. EVGA calls it the GTX260 Core216

$280 after rebate last time I checked (but I'm no in the rebate market, we don't have that system in Europe).
