guys,

I have a modem>router>netgear gsm7224 lvl2 switch to which i have connected several computers and a wireless access point.

The access point is setup with 2 ssid's, a private and a public one. Will this netgear switch allow me to do this? The business wired and wireless machines need to be isolated from the guests that only use the 2nd ssid for internet.

Thanks.

anybody?
i know it is an amateur question, but i'm only helping someone that already has this equipment.

I looked up the specs on the switch and it does support dot1q vlans and trunking, so you would configure the Cisco AP to tag traffic for the Office SSID on one vlan, and the Guest SSID on another vlan to separate them, then connect the AP to the switch via a trunk link. But from what I saw, that router does not support VLANS or trunking, so that is going to be a problem.

You're either going to need a new router, or a L3 switch to pull it off.

can you recommend a switch to use? 1gb and 16 ports at the minimum are my other requirements.
