Stock settings which would score better in most benchmark programs? Also I would assume that the x800 runs cooler. Both are around the same price. Thanks

A 6600GT is a 500MHz GPU with 8 pixel pipes and 3 vertex pipes and it has 16GB/sec memory bandwidth. An x800 is a 392MHz GPU with 12 pixel pipes and 6 vertex pipes and it has 22.4 GB/sec memory bandwidth. There's a head-to-head comparison of the two cards here. The x800 usually beats the 6600GT. Personally, I'd get the x800 if the prices were the same.

The x800 will pretty much always beat the 6600GT. I have the 6600GT (AGP), and its an extremely good card, but the performance isn't always the best, owing to the 8 pipes etc. The x800 will beat it because of the increased pipelines, and thus the higher bandwidth.

I had an XFX 6600GT before jumping to my x800XL. My 3dmark03 and 05 scores nearly doubled. 3dmark03 was about 6,500- now about 12,000. 3dmark05 was around 3,000, now 5,500.
