I built a brand new Kaby Lake system with an i7 7700k and an MSI Pro Series Intel B250 LGA 1151.
I installed Ubuntu Server on it, and it was up and running for a week under relatively light load. Tonight, I started using it more heavily by running a few CPU-heavy tasks on it.
All of a sudden, the machine shut itself down and would not turn back on.
I pulled everything out, including the CPU and motherboard to make sure nothing was shorted. If I try to power it up, the motherboard light flashes for a fraction of second, turns off, and the machine does not boot.
I pulled the CPU out, reseated it, and still nothing. I tried clearing CMOS, still no luck.
Is the CPU likely bad? I would need to RMA it.
