Here's the setup.

2 partitions. 1 of them has XP Pro and the other has Vista Business. When I got my comp, I first installed XP Pro and then I installed Vista. Now I want to reformat and reinstall XP Pro, but I also want the boot menu (the one that appeared after installing Vista) that appears in the beginning to "stay", so I can continue to boot into both operating systems. How do I do this? I'm asking because my friend who installed Windows the same way as me had to reinstall XP and he lost the boot menu in the process. He could not get into Vista at all and had to reinstall it. How can I avoid this? Is there some file I should backup? Thanks.

As long as you have your Vista DVD/CDs, you should be able to boot from the Vista disk after installing Windows XP and click on the "Repair Windows" option (below the big install button on the first screen). This will reinstall the Vista bootloader for you.
