Running Kubuntu Dapper. (KDE with the Kubuntu Desktop package Kubuntu comes with)

After a few days, whenever I save a file to my Desktop, the Desktop is not updated to show that the file is there. Refreshing does not help. The only way to get the Desktop to show the file is to add a new icon or folder to the Desktop each time. The only way I've been able to fix the problem is to logout and login.

Anyone know what process monitors the Desktop and how I can get the process working again without logging out. Or, better yet, how can I prevent it from happening?

I've tried everything to reproduce the problem at will, but cannot.

I'm not sure about KDE, but Gnome uses a process called gamin to monitor files....

Thanks

/usr/lib/gamin/gam_server is running.

I can kill it and it'll load right back up, but it doesn't fix the problem.
