laptop market technology curve

Hi All,
Between now and Christmas I expect to be buying a higher end spec laptop. I will probably use this for some time as a development and gaming workhorse. Can anyone advise me of moves in the mobile cpu and chipset space that may be relevant to my musings, ie. are there technology step changes coming that I might wish to wait for instead of buying now?

you will soon see mobile I7 core laptops out. Especially after the Windows 7 release. Alot of manufacturers are holding thier new releases until then.........

Quad-core i7 models are showing up very shortly Oct 22nd and Windows 7), but if you want longer battery life and slimmer profiles, you'll have to wait until early 2010 - that's when 32nm and dual-core i7s show up.
