LCD's break in?

I read somewhere that lcd's can take weeks to fully break in, is this true? What exactly improves after the breaking in period? Contrast, colors, black levels stuff like that?
 
Not sure about a break-in period , but I have encounterd some improvements over time with my Acer 19" (and somewhat on my Samsung 22" ) that my backlight bleed is reduced . My Acer's backlight bleed completely disapeared after about a week of use :D
 
Interesting, this is not the 1st time I read that someone had their backlight bleeding reduced or eliminated after some time of use.
