I have searched all the English updates about this monitor, but could not find any info about the panel type.

Anyone know?

If it's a TN panel, will it affect the following?
- 3D CAD
- light web design
- GTA 5 (it's the only game I really play)

All 28inch 4k so far = tn
Dell/Lenovo/asus
Well apparently dell is ips but only runs at 30hz

they will all be TN Film at their retail prices i'm sure. There also isn't a known 28" IPS panel at 4k res available

Is the Lenovo 28-in. TN 4K panel 60Hz? If it is, it's probably worth the extra $100 cost over the 28-in. 4K Dell display.

It is possible that the article the claimed only 30Hz was misinformed. It's probably 30Hz over HDMI and 60 over DP with MST. But, maybe they cheaped out on including MST and it really is only 30 over DP.

Yea, I think it is.

Here is a nice Youtube of pictures running on the monitor, http://youtu.be/IPIBJYvHjFQ and here is video on the monitor http://youtu.be/s_CqrTIi7ws. More Youtube video here http://youtu.be/Up2t1UxGcBI and here http://youtu.be/yXIOdVDJ6Hk

For a TN panel, I think the monitor looks great.

Thanks for posting those videos. I hadn't seen any of those yet.

Judging by the viewing angles in the video and the price point, it's almost certainly not an IPS panel.

So, I'm watching these videos and generally going , "WOW, look at the colors on this thing." But I have my color saturation fairly bumped up and was wondering if that's "enhancing reality".

The 24" Dell 4K is the screen to get IMO. It's not super expensive either and it's IPS is about the best I've seen. Clarity on it is crazy.

Lenovo ThinkVision Pro2840m ($799)

I haven't found any info about refresh rate.

Dell UP2414Q ($699)

The dell rep admits that the 28" is 30 Hz, and yes a TN panels.
There's no point, just get a 39" Seiki, it can at least do 120Hz 1080p and it's not a TN panel, and it's bigger.

ASUS PB287Q ($799)

Says it's 60Hz Native Operation over DP and a TN panel (of course).

I ask this same question as I post on the other Asus thread: If this monitor is a monitor that most of us are happy with, who's going to pay $2500 on those 31.5", 3840x2160 monitor from Asus or Dell?

This is a TN panel. Some people find that unacceptable. Depends on your needs/wants and budget.

Professional users who want wide gamut, 10-bit support, hardware calibration, IPS type panel, wide viewing angles, Factory calibration...
