LG To Show Off 84-Inch ‘Ultra Definition’ TV At CES

About to say the same thing. Bluray is the highest current standard generally available and that's 1080p. This is nice but not useful at this time.

We are starting to see Youtube videos in 4k and works coming in Digital Cinema 4k. QFHD is used for true 1080p 3D

Only question would be ......who...would support that resolution?

Would be nice.

Also, i dont think any video card will support it....but driver fix could fix that. Would be nice if nvidia 3d surrond would work? even though its a single monitor.....the resolution would demand @ least 2 way sli IMO.

Most curerent video cards will support 4k resolutions.

Yeah, but the 4k Youtube videos are so compressed w/ artifacts that it might as well be a 720p or 1080p video. In regards to video playback, higher resolutions are only worth it if the video compression is good enough to keep up with it.

Bah, its LG, so it's probably got an antiglare coating with texture bumps the size of river pebbles...

BB

Even IMAX isnt projected at 4K, it's done with two 2K projectors overlapped on top of each other...

It's no advance in Pixels per inch, sadly. That's actually what will improve visual quality, at least for PCs. For TV's it's bigger, but offers no more definition than 1080p TVs of conventional sizes.
