LGA 775 P4 Mobo Question

I have a problem with my old motherboard so I have to buy a new one. Now, I have a P4 processor in it with a lga 775 socket. The form factor is a micro-atx board. Now when I check newegg, and click only the p4 options under mobo, I only get 2 selections. Now since it is the same socket compared to core 2 processors, can I use these boards with the P4 or do the boards have to have P4 compatibility?

I believe you should be ok, but you should also check the board compatibility on the individual manufacturer's website.

I think most if not all current Core 2 boards also support P4s. If you're worried, just try and go with something that uses a P965 or G965 chipset.

Yea, thanks guys. Ive been looking at some that support both P4 and C2D processors. That makes it worthwhile when upgrading in the future.

Can you guys recommend me a couple of motherboards that have support for both C2D and P4 processors? Ive been looking and I cant find any on newegg. Thanks in advance.
