Is there a good light weight cooler for C2D? I move my computer around quite a bit to lan parties and don’t want to put unneeded stress on the motherboard.

I need something with better cooling then the stock Intel heatsink with the same noise level but at the same time relatively light and so far I haven’t had much luck finding something that fits that description.

What would be considered a good weight for the cooler? I’ve seen some at 750g but to me that seems overly heavy. The problem is it seems the heavier ones are quieter and provide better cooling. :( I haven’t found one that is somewhere in the middle.

575 grams is the intel spec for using the pop pins BTW. With a backplate more would be ok, but if moving around your concern is well founded.

I suggest Artic 7 freezer pro. it has the reputation of being the best once you exclude the big towers, price is reasonable and it is well within the weight specification found in Intel Thermal and Mechanical Guidelines document.
