I have a netgear WG311t installed in a box I'm using linux on, and while it can find the router, and ping it and everything, it won't connect. I've installed the windows driver, but I'm lost from there.

I'm a linux noob, by the way.

How'd you install windows drivers on a linux box? If you can ping the router, can you get to the router's web-based admin panel? How about other computers on the network? If so then it looks like you're connected to the router, just not to the rest of the world.

Dunno how to fix it, but it's a place to start. For what it's worth, I use Ubuntu and my wireless works pretty well :)

I don't even know where to put commands or anything.

Open up a terminal and all the typing you need to do will be done there. Here's a basic guide on working from the shell to get you started:

http://linuxcommand.org/learning_the_shell.php

It can be a bit frustrating at first when you're coming over from the Windows or Mac world, but at least a basic understanding of the shell will pay off. And don't forget your man pages, they are full of solid answers.

I might go buy Linux for dummies, lol.

Thanks for the help everyone, I'll be sure to update with my progress.
