Is there any distro that I can install on a gateway device that I can set to use linux drivers for my cell phone and tether to the internet, and then share that internet connection?

Wouldn't using this be easier. Haven't heard of a linux distro that does what you want, But i wouldn't be suprised if it's out there.

Yeah that would be easier, except it's $150 and $69/mo. I've already got unlimited data on my blackberry, I just want to plug it in and make it work for free. But thanks for the suggestion.

Ah, Now i see what you mean. I just thought that router would work because
if you could use it with a phone maybe you could use it with other handhelds.
I'll look around and if i see anything i'll let you know.

-Best of luck

Edit: This might help you out a bit.

I can't help you on the router side of things, but I can provide a warning... Verizon's "Unlimited data" really isn't unlimited data. They love to cancel service on people who consistently use over 5gb/mo. I had a few friends that all had the same idea with their phones and laptops. 1 by 1, Verizon picked them off. Citing reasons like over bandwidth limit, Claiming that heavy tethering usage was against their TOS.

Just be careful.
