Looking for a desktop replacement

I know it's not very often I'd recommend a laptop over a desktop for gaming, but I spend a lot of time not near my house. The last laptop I had was an asus g50 that overheated badly and my warranty was up before I figured out this was a warranty issue. So I'm looking for something for gaming around $1500, that won't overheat. Would like to have a 17" or so screen, and good sound quality. Opinions?
 
i think Sager has a model that fits that description....


by good sound do you mean on headphones or speakers ?
 
Check out the MSI options, I have the GT780DXR and love it, though its about 300 above your cost for my configuration. There are a few models that should fit within your budget.
 
Check out Alienware M17x R3 refurbs on eBay. Dell is flooding eBay with insanely cheap laptops at the moment.
