I downloaded the EA downloader the other day to check it out and saw my old BF2142 on there so I decided to give that a whirl and play a bit. After awhile I wanted to try BF2 again as well so I got the box out and the 1st install disk was missing :(

I tried to enter the cd key into the ea downloader with no success.

Any ideas?

If it's on steam you could link the game with your CD key, and download.. i don't think it's on there though :(

rather more debatable way.. torrent it.

If you have a legit CD key this is legal so /shrug

I dunno, I'd say if he already bought the game and has a CD-key (thereby proving ownership) he's free to torrent it to replace his lost discs.
I oppose piracy too so I'm not just saying this because I'm a pirate and EA going to charge you out the ass for that disc too. (gotta love price gouging)

Downloading a torrent of something you have purchased is unclear in terms of current US legality, but, we err on the side of caution here.
As was said, your best, lawful option is to contact EA for a replacement disc.
