Recently my friend recovered her laptop that was stolen by her ex... Long story...

Anyway she's trying to gain access to her laptop again but all admin account on it is password protected. Including the default admin account in safe mode.

I don't know the specs of this laptop but it has Window Vista O/S. She's not a tech wizard so isn't there a simple way to to remove the password?

Thanks in advance.

Tried using ophcrack on my PC first before telling my friend to do it. It failed to crack my password. Maybe due to how complex my password was? Maybe her EX don't have password as complex and could work. But require large download and bit complex process..

Then I tried the resetting method and it reset my password without hitch. But a lot data on the screen might scare her. She don't live near by so we gotta do it over the phone.

Gonna try it anyway. Thank you both.

We used the NT Offline Password Recovery USB method. Was a bit difficult getting her to understand the steps but we got in.

Defiantly a useful tool that I'll be keeping. Thanks.

Just use KonBoot in the future. I've found that to be easiest personally.

I keep a password reset disk for this reason. Does anyone else?
