.mac and other forms of syncing

Does anyone know of a good, cheap, way to keep two computers synced up without moving to other hardware to do the transfer?

All I really want to do is keeping my Mail and iCal sync'ed between the Mac Mini and the Powerbook.

I have 10.4 Server, there are some quite cool features with it.
Like my entire home directory on my G5 is automaticly synced to my PowerBook

You suck, I wish that there was a way to do that from computer to computer without resorting to .mac.
